Current Programs

ANGAZA LUTHERAN CHURCH CHOIR

The Angaza (Shed Light) Lutheran Choir was established and founded by "Ombeni E Pallangyo" in 1999 and currently has 27 members. It provides praise & worship for the Angaza Lutheran Church. The Ombeni Foundation aims to support the AngazaLutheran Choir by providing musical instruments, uniforms, & financing recordings. All proceeds made from choir recordings will fund the Angaza Lutheran Church’s services and causes. The music also spreads God’s word.

Music is an important part of the Tanzanian culture. The Angaza Choir serves an important role in the church, as it attracts village people to services & engages them in lively worship and changing lives of many.  Angaza Choir recently recorded and filmed their first album and their mission is to inspire many people within Africa and around the world.

NGWARANGA ORPHANS

Parentless children need protection, love, & nurturance to grow & develop into healthy, well people. The Ombeni foundation aims to provide & secure 27 orphans at the Ngwaranga Orphanage with such vital ingredients.

As funds allow, the foundation hopes to acquire more orphans. The goal is to have 50 orphans by 2013 & to continue to increase that number over time as funds permit.

Second Orphanage Project (SOP)

Second orphanage project which will support 85 orpahans and accomodate volunteers has officially begun.

AGAPE CLINIC

The Agape (greek word for “God’s Love”) Clinic is a future, non-profit clinic being planned and constructed to provide general, medical care for the village people of Mount Meru. It will provide care for all ages and genders but emphasize maternal and newborn cares. The Ombeni Foundation envisions the Agape Clinic to be a free clinic funded by financial and supply donations & run by medical volunteers.

There is no medical insurance in Tanzania, and many people lack funds &/or accessibility to clinics and hospitals for care. As a result, many people with treatable medical conditions go untreated. The Ombeni Foundation is particularly concerned about mothers foregoing pre &post natal cares as well as delivering infants without trained monitoring. It aims to reduce the incidence of preventable maternal & infant morbidities & mortalities.

SONGORO PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Songoro Primary School provides education equivalent to American grade school for 700+ village children. The Ombeni Foundation aims to support the children by providing school supplies, nutrition, recreational sporting supplies, & transportation.

Unfortunately, many children’s families in the Mount Meru Village cannot afford school supplies, do not have transportation, & sporting supplies are an unnecessary luxury. Additionally, “Evidence in Tanzania shows that high absenteeism, lack of concentration in class and early dropouts are a result of short-term hunger. About 50% - 75% of pupils go to school without breakfast and they do not get any meal during school hours” (Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre, 2006).
